Lucy can be a very nervous wee dog, some of it is being a diva like her owner However the care is second to none, they take the time to explain everything, and really put me at ease. 100% recommend the vets and nurses here. Fantastic experience: I have been coming here for years with my dogs, starting with my family dog Taffy, who they cared for right up to the day she peacefully went to sleep a few years ago in their hands. The compassion, kindness, and respect they showed her and my mother during such a difficult time is something I will always be grateful for. Since then, I have continued bringing my two rescue dogs, Charlie and Copper, and the level of care has always been outstanding. All of the staff are friendly, professional, and incredibly understanding. When I needed two emergency appointments in the same day because both of my dogs ate something they shouldn’t have, they were calm, supportive, and quick to help, which made a stressful situation so much easier to manage. They take the time to explain things clearly, answer questions, and never make you feel rushed or judged despite being so busy. They also recommended their pet plan to me, which has genuinely helped reduce my annual costs without any pressure — just honest, helpful advice. Copper is very nervous around people, and they have been so patient and gentle with her, always working at her pace and making sure she feels as comfortable as possible. It’s clear they truly care about the animals as individuals, not just as patients. I have also brought in 2 injured birds in the past few years that they have kindly dealt with. They have a tough job, and they do it exceptionally well. I trust them completely with my dogs and wouldn’t take them anywhere else. I highly recommend them

Negative experience: AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! We nearly lost our beloved family dog due to serious negligence at this practice. After two separate appointments where no clear diagnosis was made, we agreed to have our dog anesthetised so they could investigate further. We were told everything was fine and that his issues were likely diet-related. Just six days later, he collapsed and was rushed to a different veterinary practice, where he underwent emergency surgery that ultimately saved his life. The second vet immediately recognised what was wrong — they had a strong suspicion from our very first phone call, even before seeing him in person. They were shocked that such an obvious issue had been missed. We received no apology or acknowledgement of error from this practice who immediately went into damage control trying to protect themselves rather than taking any responsibility for what happened. There was no compassion, no accountability, and no concern for the trauma caused to our family or the unnecessary suffering our dog endured. Had we not trusted our instincts and sought a second opinion, our dog would not be alive today. The contrast in competence between this practice and the emergency vet who saved him was stark and deeply concerning. We are beyond relieved our dog survived, but devastated that this situation was entirely avoidable. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this practice under any circumstances and would strongly urge others to seek care elsewhere if they value their pet’s safety.

Negative experience: AVOID AVOID. ABSOLUTE COWBOYS, long story short my dog needed surgery to take her womb out cause she wouldnt stop bleading. They fobbed her off with load of injections and other medicines 2 trips to get nowhere and to be told by other vetenerians that she absoluely shouldnt of got any injections what she has is a life treatning thing and she needed to be surgicaly operated on asap. Long story short my dog was basicaly left for dead caise they wanted to make more money by fobbing us over with there injections. They have been known by alot of people not to put the pet 1st. Its a money grabbing place they do not care aboit your animals. Then to say the operation would be 400 then when she needd it told us to come back a week later and it be 560 ish. Absolute joke. Took a random vet to take her on asap as it was life treatning just aswel we caught it in time. And i never give reviews about the likes of this. An absolute joke

Fantastic experience: Our experience with Cavan Pet Clinic has been nothing but professional. From the passing through the front door we are greeted by the reception team with a smile. They are very accommodating, kind & caring people. Our dog George had his annual booster on Saturday, I felt that the Vet was very knowledgeable and carried out a thorough examination of George, before bringing him out for his injection & blood taking. We got a new puppy this year and put them on the “Pet Plan” which is great, as once the monthly payment is made the routine treatments ie vaccinations, worming tablets etc are covered with this monthly fee. So we decided to do the same for George. It doesn’t take very long to process. You would have it all done before you would have drank a cup of tea or coffee. So again my fee for George was only for his blood test. At the end of our visit we were wished well and off we went. Big vet bills can be hard with the price of living rising all the time, but spreading out the cost over the year is much better, I believe. Signed by a happy pet parent.

Fantastic experience: Very good girls looked after my dog back 2023. My dog was very sick three weeks ago. He was very low and teeth was not great and heart. With loving staff the great vet. You know who you are she took care of teddy and recommdations on after. Teddy is back eating and full of beans . Thank you to staff and their empathy and understanding ..

Negative experience: AVOID! MISDIAGNOSED my boxer. -We went in because my boy couldn't put his leg on the ground, he had no control over the base of his foot, he was walking on bent toes(when he did try to walk on it and If i was to let him do that and not lift his rear). -The vet ignored the fact that he had no control on his toes and put it all on his weight( he was a tall 54 kg boxer, mix with probably mastiff). -X-rays were taken,the vet said was the cruciate ligament but wanted a second opinion so x-rays were sent to the clinic in Galway and the result was: the urgent need of a TPLO surgery at 2.5k. No other option! -Her reaction when I mentioned the pet charity Blue cross( I didn't had 2.5k for that week as this was very unexpected and with no indication that something was wrong before that day), made me consider a second opinion. -Another vet examined my boy and he said the problem is in his spine not in the knee as was said by the vet at Cavan pet hospital. -X-rays and 2 other orthopaedic surgeons confirmed that and the diagnosis is: infringement of sciatic nerve, spondylosis and arthitis. -The vet at Cavan clinic never gave instructions on the treatment(was 2 days in between visits and the second time was added a medicine that she never said I was meant to give it with the tablets from first visit) and never updated the ''receipt'' aka ''history'' admitting the mistake nor they apologised. -I have sent them an email about the real diagnosis and a week later...no response, so further action will be taken. IF YOU WANT TO SPARE YOUR PET THE AGONY AND DELAYED APPROPRIATE TREATMENT...AVOID this place

Negative experience: Was bringing my bulldog there on a regular basis treating his eyes as they said he was 80% blind ...now I am bringing my bulldog to my own local vets 20 mins away from us and that vet has my bulldogs eyes almost perfect again....will not be going back to cavan pet hospital ever again ....it's all about the money there with them....0% ...not good treatment for any dog with eye problems....we were lucky we brought our bulldog to our own local vet in athlone

Negative experience: We spot a dying cat near Aldi on the grass in Cavan. We called this institution and they promised to arrange someone to check the cat. The pet was still alive yesterday, but so much injured. I don’t have a car and possibility to take the cat to the vet. But nor people neither this hospital didn’t do anything to save alive creature. Today we saw him dead. I am so disappointed.

Fantastic experience: Josh, Grainne and Emma are the names of the people I remember. Lovely, friendly professional people that helped us through the journey of our dog(Cocos) cesarian. When my wife and I collected Coco and the pups after the operation Grainne and Josh didn't try to rush us out, they were very happy to answer our concerns and made us feel comfortable and content. I recently had my little puppy neutered & I was very emotional leaving her , incase something went wrong. Our beautiful Vet Anya , was so kind to me & gave me a hug & was so gentle to my little puppy. I couldn't recommend her enough. They are an amazing team of people ❤️

Negative experience: During a recent visit with one of our two kittens, I was treated very rudely by the vet. The same vet prescribed medication for irritation in the kitten's ears. On returning home I noticed that the label on said med stated "Apply twice daily to each ear" and nothing else. No information leaflet enclosed either. No indication of number of drops to be applied and for what duration. During our visit our kitten had his ears cleaned, temp check and worming. When the vet returned with Otis she said she had given him spot on treatment and worm tablets - the spot on treatment had not been agreed with me beforehand. In total the cost of our visit was €84. I nearly dropped at the price. I had to email the vets with a number of queries. They replied to some of the queries but their email raised a few more. I emailed again as I had no call credit after paying for the visit and a taxi to and from the practice as I cannot drive due to epilepsy. The email was marked high priority. Two days later I resent it - again high priority. Today, after waiting another 2 days for a reply which didn't arrive, I got my son to phone the practice where we were told that they "don't engage with emails" which was untrue as I had already received and replied to an email from them. The receptionist told me that we should be applying one drop to each ear and we could stop administering it whenever we liked. I asked if she was a vet and she said that she was a receptionist but that she "knew enough to say that one drop in each ear was sufficient for a cat and we could ease off on it (canaural) whenever we liked." I asked if that could be verified with a vet and was told there was no need to. I again re-iterated that we had sent numerous emails and a message on facebook which needed addressing as there were still a number of outstanding queries. The emails also highlighted the bad manners and incompetence of the vet we had the misfortune to deal with during our consultation. The flippant way in which Cavan Vet Practice is dealing with bad mannered staff and the effects that corticosteroid drops have had on the skin of myself and my children (all covered in red itchy burning rashes from scalp to torso) as a result of no information leaflet and no information from the vet indicating that precautions SHOULD be taken when administering said drops is just abysmal. AVOID THIS PRACTICE. They are currently charging some of the highest prices in County Cavan and expect customers to accept bad manners and ill treatment. Last year I left a glowing review for them. I cannot express how disappointed I am at how bad things have gotten there now. And how little is thought of the people paying the bills for the animals they treat. Just shameful.

Fantastic experience: This veterinary practice is the best. Recently I had to use their medical services for my dog. After picking up my dog from a local kennel boarders in Cavan the dog was in a very bad condition, sever weight loss, sickness and diarrhoea. Cavan pet hospital saved my dog. I would always use them. However, the boarding kennels I would not recommend.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusted with what happened , our dog was so ill and had her in , small room 2 girls flapping around and squeeling cause they were afraid of her , she's only a pup , dog was shaking with fear, tried 3 times to put needle in still didn't get it right so my husband ended up doing it dog is shaking with fear at this point, would never go back treatment was torture for her , everytime we drive by with her in the car she trembles , that was about 6 months ago , she still whimpers when ever we try to take her to groomers or anywhere, wish we never went there , never again , staff not properly trained on any kind of animal ,

Fantastic experience: Excellent vets and nurses. I've been here several times with different dogs of mine. I couldn't ask for any better vets or nurses. All the staff so dedicated, friendly and professional. They always took great care of my dogs and gave them the best treatment possible, they done so much for all my dogs including surgery and excellent aftercare etc. Words fail me to describe these great professional caring people. Their just marvelous, EXCELLENT.

Fantastic experience: Ruth the receptionist alerted me to the possibility that our dog, Darby, was probably developing sepsis and if I waited til the next day to see how she was doing, it could well be too late. Ruth and the two vets, Emer and Jenna saved Darby's life. She was dying with a sudden, massive sepsis. Emer operated on Darby the next day. Darby's recovery has been so swift, we have concluded that Emer is an excellent but extremely gentle surgeon. Cant speak highly enough of these ladies.

Didn't end well for our cat but we got great support from the staff who helped my child bringing her pet home. Went back shortly after asking for advice and the staff was very helpful, friendly and took the time to explain things. Best pet hospital around!!

Negative experience: Recently went here with my mother to get medication for our cat and despite the fact there was only two members of staff in the reception area, and no customers, and my mother had PPE, they forced her to stand outside in the rain and spoke very rude and dismissively towards her. They clearly had absolutely no time for her or her custom. I can go into a packed supermarket with PPE, I can going into a chemist with PPE and be treated with respect and customer care, but this practice wouldn't even let her stand in out of the rain. She was the only customer there at the time. Have been coming here for many years and will make sure I never use their services again.

Our lab had to stay in recently, for multiple nights, and despite being very busy, they still rang us multiple times a day to update us on her condition. On getting her home Eimear (our wonderful vet) still made contact with us to check on our pooch and her ongoing progress.

Negative experience: Molly tablets Vetmedin has doubled in price. Vat is 21% now no reduction passed on to customers. Dolly food very expressive. So not very happy with them at all.

Negative experience: They're okay. They neutered all three of my dogs and that was perfect but they've been quite useless with treating my dogs inner ear infection. It's been over a year and she's still suffering. Poor thing can't walk straight. I'm only realising this now of course, since they treated her symptoms (not the issue) and have changed vets twice since. Cavan pet hospital are okay, but really not the best
