Negative experience: I’ve been reluctant to write this as I dislike leaving negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience for other pet owners. While some staff here are genuinely caring and skilled — and I’m truly grateful for the kindness shown to my dogs over the years — my overall experience has been disappointing. If you’re a pet owner who asks questions, researches options, and wants to be actively involved in your pets’ care, you may find this practice difficult to work with. Communication and empathy have often been lacking, and there doesn’t appear to be a clear complaints process for clients. I’ve also encountered conflicting medical advice, delayed or missed recommendations for follow-up care, inconsistent pricing, and unprofessional comments that left me feeling disrespected after years of loyalty. Issues such as sedated animals being visible during consults and limited consultation and waiting space added to my concerns. I hope my feedback encourages reflection and positive change. Our pets are family — they deserve not only excellent medical treatment but also compassion and understanding. I included some images the oncologist in the specialist hospital provided me with when she explained it was crucial for CT scans when this cancer is discovered because it can reoccur distantly or locally. Also some clostridium positive and negative tests that I tested myself and managed to find a specially made probiotic that has worked despite the vets not supporting this treatment. Lastly my little reactive dog who was always just treated with painkillers for years without much investigation is finally going for a scan at the specialist hospital to investigate what is wrong with him. I’m not sure why this practice didn’t refer me for the CT Scan or the MRI Scan for my dogs.

Fantastic experience: Squeezed us in last minute on a Saturday afternoon when our dog was sick on a weekend away. Quickly assessed , took bloods and ran tests and we were on the way with medecine on board 30 mins later. Thankfully, our dog is back to himself within 24 hours

Fantastic experience: A truly wonderful veterinary clinic. A warm and friendly team who genuinely care about your pet. They give so much care and attention during consult. They ensure to explain everything clearly and are happy to answer questions and share their knowledge. Whether it’s a complex case or a straightforward visit, they are in a league of their own. I drive quite a distance to attend this clinic. It’s very fairly priced, spotlessly clean, wonderful staff and open 7 days a week. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Fantastic experience: A vet who cares, the staff at village vets are busy, but they treat each pet they tend to as if they're the only pet there. Shane, is a true professional who understands what a pet means to families. He will give the best to you and your pet and won't tell what he doesn't know. A person and pet/animal orientated practice that focuses on you. A little dog who was sadly too sick, was given the best chance of a fight and her own dignity as part of the family. I would always recommend Village Vets.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough about them, they were so good, making sure to keep me informed on the kittens progress. The vets went above and beyond to get my two back to health and the nurses spent so much time on them to make it happen. My two are back home and driving me crackers I couldn't be happier

Fantastic experience: Tigger my cat who was a little feral kitten in our back garden is now our family pet and is no longer a kitten and now 2 - having brought her to Village Vets for her injections and worming etc last Friday she just wasn’t herself and the panic was I’m a wedding photographer and I knew she needed to be seen - the wedding I was heading to also are animal lovers and their dog George was going to be part of the ceremony and I knew they would want my little tigger to be seen so I rang Village Vets and I knew it was last minute but they fitted me in before I headed to the wedding! This is 5 star service and with a smile - Tigger had an infection and temperature and slept for most of the day but as soon as I came home she gave me a cuddle and I could see even by then she had improved so much. Village Vets are just so good and so kind and helpful - Alan the vet who looked after tigger again thank you.

Negative experience: Recently moved and I needed an appointment to check up my injured pet. They were the only ones open on Sunday in my area. I tried to book an appointment but the lady on the phone without asking any details about the injury directed me to a closer vet (which wasn't open on Sunday, only emergency phone number). I didn't think it was emergency but I needed a vet to check my cat. I don't understand why I couldn't book an appointment when I clearly needed one. The only explanation i got that they prefer making appointments for existing customers so they know the health history. As I mentioned before, I moved recently. I was once at the closer vet, but they didn't know much more about my cat than this veterinary. I'm disappointed. Very bad attitude.

Negative experience: Just moved to Kilkenny recently and needed a new vet, but don’t think I will be going back to this place. Reception was very nice. Very warm and friendly, you can tell they love animals. Vet on the other hand seemed not in a good mood? Not sure, but he barely spoke to me, and he did not engage with my dog at all. My dog is 2 years old and when he was little he had a lot of issues and so had a lot of treatments. going to the vet nowadays therefore is always very anxiety inducing for him. The vet didn’t greet my pup, didn’t engage or talk or rub him, nothing like that. Maybe my expectations are just high, but having seen how it was with our previous vets, I’m sure I can find that again somewhere else.

Fantastic experience: Brought Tigger my Kitten to Village Veterinary and I honestly could not speak highly enough of them. From check in and the care and professionalism from all the staff and Caroline the Vet who gave her the vaccinations, I am so glad I brought her and she is happy out now after receiving her second dose of vaccine. Next will be the little op and getting her spayed and of course I will be bringing her here. Thanks so much to all the team.

Negative experience: Used to do a decent job and still some of the vets are very good. Its just that recently the service has got worse and bills are getting bigger. Also more and more often I find the receptionist to have a bad attitude towards customers and also giving wrong and uneducated information without consulting anyone. Caused me a lot of stress and confusion in my last call and visit, and all that with a rude attitude and poor comments. Definitely wont be coming back. There are better options in Kilkenny for sure.

Fantastic experience: We have been with the village vets for years with our dog, bird and now rabbit. My dog has seen different vets from here over the years but I have to give extra props to Sarah. She has been extremely helpful with him, she gave me the push to go through with a surgery I was worried about to remove a lump on his leg and thank god I did because it was cancerous. Not only was she very understanding with my upsetness while giving the news but she also came back on the phone 2 days later to run through the information again and answer my many questions (she also did this with questions I had about the surgery) She's very professional, honest and caring. I couldn't recommend her enough!
