Negative experience: Disappointed with this practice. I rang on Sunday for my elderly dog who had what ended up being a burst abcess. I was told the vet had a few calls to make and that he’d call me back. He did and I explained we were in a show but could come in whenever he could see us he advised to come in by a certain time. As we were on the way I rang and was told he’d to go on another call but would ring us after so we proceeded to travel there as we were already half way. We didnt hear back for nearly two hours again and as we had two small children and the dog in the car and it was nearing 6pm (first call was made 11.30 that morning(we drove over and he happened to be there but was running out again. He quickly examined the dog for probably a total of no more than 5 minutes. On 1pm Tuesday a receptionist rang me about payment, asking me would I “be in today with it” - I explained I’d be in town the next day, Wednesday (as I don’t live there) and would pay it then. I did not get to town Wednesday and now Thursday morning at 10am she is calling me again about payment. The pressure exerted is totally unnecessary I feel. I explained I didn’t get to town as I have tow small children and one wasn’t well but it would be in this week. I asked were things that bad off in there that they can’t give someone a day to get in with a payment! Also the cost of which was €75 for a probably 4 minute visit! She said she was told to “chase” it I said it hardly requires chasing one day later surely you would be chasing unpaid debtors a few weeks later at the earliest! Bear in mind I’ve been a customer there and have never had any issues over the 15 years my dog is alive regarding payments. This has totally put me off using this vets again which is unfortunate as there a some good vets there but the abrupt and rude communication I received on both phone calls was enough for me to use one of many other vets in town going forward

Fantastic experience: We had to put our beautiful dog Bella to sleep on monday after 12.5 years, the empathy and professionalism in this vets went way beyond and talked us through everything step by step.

Fantastic experience: We first used this practice 12 years ago when our newly arrived rescue dog cut his paw on glass. It was a weekend and as my first experience going to a vet. It was excellent not just in how our dog was treated but how having two young children at home the vet kept him in until he was sure the anesthetic was out of his system. In the intervening years we have kept going and continued to find excellent service and very caring staff. Last week was unfortunately his final visit and we went with him as a family. I just want to take the opportunity to thank the vet whose name if I remember correctly was Sarah for her kindness, sensitivity, patience, humanity and professionalism. It's a difficult and emotional event so on behalf of all the family. Thanks, keep up the good work and mind yourselves.

Fantastic experience: I attended this Clinic with my cocker spaniel and was blown away by the experience I had! I am new to the area and was looking for a new vet and I’m delighted I found summerhill Vets! From the moment we entered the establishment I felt at ease and welcome. My dog was treated with such love and kindness. The Vet Leanne chatted with me and kept me fully informed at all times! Gave me lots of great tips and I felt I left with lots of helpful and valuable information! I’ve never been treated so well in any vet I’ve ever been to! For this I thank them and highly recommend these vets as they really seem to genuinely care!

Fantastic experience: I came on Saturday with my cats, without checking the time they work this day. It's closed. By the way, Google says on Saturday the clinic works until 13, but as you can see on the photo, there's a mistake.

Negative experience: This business is only getting 1 star because google doesn’t let you give zero stars on a review, I brought my 4 months old puppy who was passing blood in his stool and after a number of tests (which i now know were unnecessary) i was told there was nothing to worry about that this happens with young pups and its normal but was advised to put him on the puppy food sold in this vet, so after 15 mins of needless tests and being told everything is normal i was told to buy their dog food and charged €150 and sent home, a few weeks later my little pup was still passing blood so I brought him to another vet in ennis and was told immediately what was actually the problem and given antibiotics and other tablets to fix the problem, he was back to himself in a couple of days and i was only charged a fraction of the price, avoid this place at all costs it is just a money making factory and dont seem to actually care about the health of your pet

Fantastic experience: The staff of summerhill vets are absolutely excellent, we have been with them for years. And wouldn't go anywhere else. My Gibbs won't let anyone else do he's nails & loves the attention & love he gets from the staff (along with a treat too ) Took excellent care of our Chara,(red setter) throughout her life. A beautiful touch to receive a card from the staff on her passing. Exceptional & genuinely caring team.

Negative experience: My cat was a patient here for 4 years and I recently swapped to a new vet who instantly told me my cat had a heart murmur. How did they not recognise this in 4 years of 2 visits per year before?

Fantastic experience: They are so professional. The vets took really good care of my dog surviver, before and after she got neutered. I recommend this vets to everyone. The staff are very friendly as well.

Negative experience: Very rude and impatient receptionist! Was hoping to get my cat neutered but obviously customers are not valuble enough to be treated nicely. Take your business elsewhere, some VERY FRIENDLY alternatives you wont regret!

Negative experience: Be careful who you trust in there, one vet in particular is incompetent (Aoife, if I remember her name correctly). My dog was going there since puppy years and in time was treated for heart murmur. He had a heart scan done when I fist started to worry about his condition (xray was suggested but never actually done, even tho I agreed to do anything necessary to help him) and he was put on Vetmedin. About 5 months later I started to worry about his condition as he started to become weak and all of a sudden his eye became droopy and he started to drag his leg, we suspected stroke but Aoife thought it was an allergy and there was no changes to his heart condition. His condition got no better after the visit and he became more lethargic. His gums were pale, once again vet said she sees no changes to the heart and "maybe his gums are just normally pale" and had no idea what was wrong with him. I tried to contact vet with more questions the following day but no one called back. Next day we went to a different vet for second opinion, they immediately referred us to a cardiologist, again there was delays with getting the medical history from summerhill as the other clinic tried to receive it via email. Summerhill didnt think the signs were serious enough to send the dog to cardiologist at the time of his visit, yet the other clinic (who saw him the next day) referred him immediately. Unfortunately it was too late and he passed away in our hands being examined by cardiologist. Be careful who you trust there, some vets are good, others should not treat animals.

Fantastic experience: I needed to tell people how professional, caring and understanding the staff at Summerhill are. My cat Sid was ran over and killed- his body was taken to Summerhill. A few days after Sids passing I received a hand written card and a Rainbow Bridge card from Summerhill Vets. I was very touched by this gesture. I can not recommend this Veterinary Surgery enough. Thank you Summerhill for being there not just for our pets but for us too. Xx

Even though the practice was extremely busy, David, Mary and Edel stayed with us and carried out every test available to help Tia. The future is unknown, but she couldn't have received better care. For every addional minute I get with her I will be forever grateful to you all THANK YOU

Fantastic experience: Excellent care provided to both our pets, sadly one had to be put to sleep. This was done with care and attention. Although it is impossible to make the event of such a decision any better, they were kind, respectful and considerate to our needs, which is very much appreciated. The card received in the post later that week was lovely.
