Longford Animal Health Centre (XL Vets Ireland)

Fantastic experience: I would give 10 stars out of 5 if it allowed me to do. I cannot thank the team at Longford Animal Health Centre enough for what they did for my rescued kitten Bebe. After a serious accident that left him with a broken leg and pelvic injuries, I feared the worst. From the moment I brought him in, the care, professionalism shown by everyone were outstanding. A special thank you to Brian, whose skill and dedication made what felt like a miracle possible. The surgery was extremely complex and risky, yet my kitten is now recovering well and enjoying life again. I am deeply grateful to Brian and the entire team for saving this little creature. Their expertise, kindness, and commitment gave him a second chance, and I will never forget it. Hopefully none will need to go to vet but once you need it, a good care and professionalism will welcome you and your pet/s at this clinic.

Fantastic experience: Such a great team at this vets. They were so great with our old dog and so kind when he passed away. They are very polite and really give animals the best care possible. Our new dog will be well looked after here. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: The staff were amazing. My cat went missing from Dublin 15 months ago and when a cat was brought in for vaccinations they scanned him for a chip and identified me. Within days I collected him and he’s now reunited with his family. Thank you so much for your due diligence.

Fantastic experience: We had an emergency with our bunny at night, after work hours. We spoke on the phone with the on call vet, John, who agreed to see our bunny. Our bunny was barely moving, had not eaten in two days and was fairly weak before the consultation. He wasn't his usual self and had lost a bit of weight. Our bunny is not use to other people and only trusts us, so he was difficult to keep still and ran around the consultation room. John gave our bunny the proper medicine, weighed our bunny, checked everything and as soon as we but our bunny in the cage to go home, he was eating again and was jumping up and down when we arrived home. So thankful our bunny was seen, and we are a bit relieved that we don't have to worry too much about this issue for now.

Positive experience: Prompt service but dangerous to access the parking lot from the main road.

Fantastic experience: We brought our dog in on a Sunday during out of hours and got the dreaded but expected news that our 12 year old husky would have to be put down. The team was so patient and gentle with both the dog and my family in dealing with the situation and even gave us a day to get some of the other kids from college home to say goodbye. The whole process the team were so empathetic and caring and even sent us out a condolence card with Nanuk’s paw print on it and some forget me not seeds. It was something unexpected but was really appreciated. Every single staff member we dealt with were so respectful in even the tiniest of things with us and they really made all the difference in us saying goodbye to part of the family. Could not recommend enough!

Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with the service at Longford Animal Health Centre. I recently found a badly injured crow and reached out to them for advice and assistance. However, the response I received was shockingly lacking in empathy and compassion. The staff member I spoke to on the phone outright told me there was nothing they could do except euthanasia, and if I wanted to bring the crow in to be euthanised, it would be at my own expense. This lack of willingness to help was disheartening, especially considering that most vets typically oblige and treat wild birds free of charge, understanding they aren't pets. Instead of offering any form of assistance or guidance, I was simply directed to 'use Google' to find wildlife rescues. Such a cold and dismissive attitude in a moment of distress is deeply disappointing. I expected better from a veterinary clinic.

Fantastic experience: I have attended Longford Animal Health Centre on numerous occasions, firstly for our beloved coco , golden retriever who sadly is no longer with us, and recently with our new puppy Holly, a golden retriever, on both cases , the staff managed everything just perfect and provide the care for the pet and they're owners that is appreciated at such a vulnerable time . Fantastic experience: I have attended this veterinary practice for a lot of years with my dogs. As with most people my dogs are very important to me and only deserve the best and that is what they get consistently at the Longford Animal Health Center. From the time you walk in the door and meet the ladies on reception right through to the vet my girls are always treated to the best of care. Thank you to everyone that works there for all your wonderful care.

Fantastic experience: Staff are always friendly, efficient, very helpful and informative. They have always taken the time to ease any concerns I may have regarding my cats and made me aware of all the options available. I know when it comes to my cats staff have treated them as if they were their own, and when one had to stay with them for a week a member of staff even brought him in ham as a special treat. At upsetting times of losing a pet the staff have showed great compassion and offered much needed comfort. They have even let me bring in a few injured strays at very short notice and without an appointment and provided them with the same care and treatment they would provide a much loved family pet. I have often recommended this veterinary practice to others.

Negative experience: Was refused to be seen by a rude receptionist which was an emergency for a kitten, would have only taking 5 minutes of there time. I was told over the phone the kitten would be fine until the next day for appointment despite begging to be seen because it was an emergency situation. The kitten passed away a few hours later. Avoid at all costs, disgusting service.

I called 5 vets on an emergency and XL Vets was the only one that returned by call within minutes and seen my kitten that day. She was kept in for two days and Brian and the team kept me informed on her recovery progress. 5 stars to the vets and all the team. Highly recommended veterinary practice.

Brought our two dogs there to be neutered and one became unwell few days after refused to eat they seen her no problem on the Saturday and admitted her on the Sunday to put on drip kept us informed all the time. Safer dog came home theyvrang every day until they were happy she was doing ok.
