Vet and Pet Clinic: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Chris is a very good vet and so kind highly recommended him
Thanks Emma for your kind review
Fantastic experience: Went to the evening clinic as our cat was unwell, she was very old and unfortunately her liver was failing, the Vet was honest with us about our options. he was also so kind, thoughtful and gentle and gave us time to think and talk before making the hardest decision we had to make, that kindness was their throughout and made the decision a little easier.
Thank you kindly David for your review
Fantastic experience: As a long term dog owner and an animal rescue volunteer, I’ve been using Vet and Pet clinic Carlow for years. All staff are always really friendly and welcoming. Chris’s experience and knowledge is second to none. Nothing is too much trouble. Always willing to help and go that extra mile. I would not use any other vet clinic and definitely recommend Vet and Pet clinic to everyone

Fantastic experience: Chris is the best vet you can get in Carlow. Always very attentive and empathetic, offered the best care for my cat. The reception could improve whatsoever, they don’t seem to be of much help when calling for appointments or general enquiries, although they’re always nice.
Thank you Diana for your review

Negative experience: I brought my 5 month old cat in to get neutered after being advised by the vet at a previous vaccination appointment that she was big enough to get done. I was given no time frame. Having not received any time as to how long the procedure would take, or as to when she would be ready to be collected, I left the vets having been told I would receive a phone call when she was ready. Isent her in at nine o clock for the procedure and phoned at 2 in the afternoon for an update as to how everything went and was told she was ready to be collected. When I arrived she wasn’t ready. She was in the metal crate they put her in for preparation for procedures, I had to take her out of this crate while still under anaesthetic and she was petrified and hissed. I put her in her travel crate and paid the bill at the receptionists desk. I was given no information regarding the surgery or how it went I asked if the vet was on site and was told they were not. I was given a scrap of paper with her antibiotics and painkillers attached, with no further information given and was not given an Elizabethan collar to stop her biting the stitches, and was shown the door. When I brought her home and took her out of the crate she was disorientated, couldn’t stand or walk straight. She immediately huddled by the radiator where her blanket was and did not move for the afternoon. That night she became more active and started licking the wound and was tearing at the exterior stitching. Prior to returning to the vets I contacted a member of the spca for advice who told me her stitches should have been inverted if she was not given a collar. That way she could not tear them out. I had to go back to the vets the next day to get the Elizabethan collar as I had tried to bandage her torso to stop her pulling at the stitching. I was greeted by the receptionist and when I asked for the collar I was asked why was it necessary by the receptionist. When the reasoning was explained that the kitten was pulling at stitches she stated , “cats don’t do that, I have two cats and niether did that when they had a surgical procedure done”. She became inexplicably annoyed at this request and proceeded to argue with me and stating that this was not her problem or her fault. She stated that if I had a problem I should have come back straight away after the procedure however given the cats condition upon returning home she was in no fit straight to travel as she was stressed and disoriented after her surgery. The receptionist stated that it’s up to the client to ask for the collar and that I should have known better. I’m extremely upset and disappointed that my kitten didn’t seem to be taken care of while placed under the care of vet and pet. Im disappointed that I hadn’t been given any information regarding how her procedure went, or any details or medical supplies as to ensure she would not open the wound. I will not be returning to this vet again as I would happily pay more at a different clinic who would take better charge and care of my kitten for surgical procedures.
Fantastic experience: What a Gem Charlotte is! Thank you so much for Po's treatment! It's clear that it's not just a "job" for her and that the Patient is in the focus, a very caring and empathetic Vet. I can do nothing but recommend this place. Absolutely Brilliant! :)
Fantastic experience: Excellent friendly staff and so kind
Fantastic experience: Always very caring
Fantastic experience: Really Promt service I had to call out of hours for my puppy on a bank holiday and the vet met me within 10 minutes of me calling. Really made me feel secure that animals will be seen to in the event of an emergency and so quickly I really appreciate it Chris and thanks again will definitely be changing vets to yourselves.
Fantastic experience: Immediate attention. Good diagnosis. Full recovery
Fantastic experience: My dog Lastat had a lump on his head I had been down with Julian 2 weeks previous and was given antibiotics to clear it up as it was thought to be from a thorn stuck below the skin. It hadn't cleared up do I went in Wednesday to schedule a surgery to remove it and got a next day appointment. He had surgery yesterday to remove what turned out to be a cyst on his head. Chris couldn't have been nicer, he let me sit with lastat until the anaesthetic sent lastat to sleep. I came back an hour later to pay for the surgery (I was to worried to remember at the time) and Chris gave me an update and let me see that lastat was alright and awake. I can't thank them enough for all they did for Lastat and even me.
Positive experience: The staff are wonderful.. genuine care for pets of all shapes and sizes
Fantastic experience: Chris is very professional and people 's person
Fantastic experience: So reassuring when my cat was behaving oddly. Couldn't fault them. Was very kind!
Positive experience: Positive: Excellent surgery done on my dog's cruciate ligament. Able to walk on it again and a very neat scar. Vet also answered my queries on phone in the days after op. Negative: Dog was to have had operation in the morning but was kept waiting in a cage on arrival, from 9.30 till operation around 4pm, while fasting from food and water, as vet had been called out. She must have been very scared and thirsty, for all this time.
Positive experience: Sterilization of the cat went well but I think the cat is too shaved. Instead of shaving it just a little around the stomach, they shaved it up to half back. I found that unnecessary.
Negative experience: Took cat down to get neuter which was €50 but when I went to pick cat up I was told that there also done flea treatment which didn't work anyway and had to pay a extra €8 there said that there phone but I didn't have any miss call there should not have done this without asking me not very happy you can't just do what you want without asking but this vets can
Negative experience: Vet ignored me and my dog after calling few times asking for appointment.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place The groomers is great
Fantastic experience: Great place to go with your pets, nice people, they really love animals. The best in Carlow.
Fantastic experience: Lovely place and you can buy all for your pet
Fantastic experience: Went to clinic twice this year. Always kind and helpful personal. My dog was checked by vet today even their were busy. I’m happy with service they provide. Reasonable price. Highly recommended. Thank you
Positive experience: Great care for my pets and very helpful staff
Positive experience: I like this vet very reasonable priced and good at what he does. You can even buy the injections to give your animals if you need to do them yourself at half the cost which is great.
