Fantastic experience: Excellent service with a real passion for animals

Fantastic experience: Staff in Navan are brilliant, really look after their customers and owners.

Negative experience: I am very unhappy with my experience at this clinic. I visited twice and saw two different vets, and neither of them identified the real problem with my dog. Instead of finding the cause, they just wanted to prescribe medication. To give medication, you must first know exactly what is wrong , but that did not happen here. They also gave steroids, even though the side effects were more serious than any possible benefit for my dog’s condition. This treatment only made things worse. After losing trust, I went to another vet where the diagnosis was correct, but sadly, it was already too late because so much time had been lost at this clinic. My dog’s condition had become severe and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put my dog down. I feel that the lack of proper investigation, incorrect treatment contributed to his suffering. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic vet filled with people who really care about animals, especially cats. Will give you genuine advice and service instead of just trying to make money from you. Great availability and you're never left waiting. I'm an anxious owner but my mind is always settled leaving here. Thanks guys!!

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Aideen, Grainne,Donal,Shauna,Maria and all the staff for looking after “Honey” over the years,she had plenty of visits and procedures over the years and was well looked after,unfortunately the day came when she had to be put to sleep so she wouldn’t have to suffer. I’m very grateful for your professionalism and care and also the sympathy card sent out,a nice touch at a very sad time Regards Brian

Fantastic experience: Amazing service and they're always so so kind and understanding. They're really great with dogs (only experience), especially elderly dogs with chronic issues. They worked so hard to find a way to get my dog back on the mend and content again. Wonderful people and I would fully trust them for their expertise. Little dog is still happy out and energy levels back up with their help

Negative experience: Completely messed around by this vet. Booked in my dog to get bloods and check done as he needs sedation to get groomed. Im asked to call the groomer next week and when I do so and then they cancel on me and say they are too busy to take on new clients. Same thing happed 2 yrs ago. Really depends on who you get on the phone

Fantastic experience: Such caring and empathetic staff working here. Over the years we have had to say goodbye to some of our pets for health issues/elderly and in pain and the staff were fantastic. We felt like they really cared for us and our much loved dogs and cats. They give you all the time you need to say goodbye.

Fantastic experience: Great service, they saw my kitty very quickly and we barely waited a minute in the waiting room to be seen, very kind and gentle with my kitty.

Negative experience: We put our dog to sleep this morning had same treatment money grabbers the minute we brought her in was asked to settle the bill then just before the nurse gave her the injection was shown a catalog with arns I could have screamed at her no compassion some people should not be working with animals

Negative experience: Previous review seems to have disappeared. Had been clients of S&F for years, the treatment we received had been nothing short of amazing from the vets and staff, however earlier this year we had to take both our 15 and 17 year old dogs on their final journeys within 6 weeks of each other and the treatment and complete lack of compassion we recieved from Aideen at reception was so bad that we have now switched vets. Anyone who has gone through this process will know how difficult it is, when we took our first dog on his final journey, we asked for a brief period outside to compose ourselves after he had gone (I couldn’t actually remember my pass code as I was so upset), only for Aideen to refuse this request and insist that we settle the bill before leaving the premises (we had been customers for years) and it took a younger memeber of staff to jump in and allow us to go outside (this you girl then got an absolute death stare from Aideen) but it was what occurred when we took out 17 year old on her final journey that will stick with us forever. Once again it was the treatment from Aideen at the desk. We had to ask to be allowed into the family room as Aideen did not offer this to us made us sit in reception with our terminally ill dog(this despite being assured this was pre organised for us) The vet was amazing and compassionate and took our pet to be prepared, so while my wife and I were sitting in the family room quite upset and knowing that the next time we saw our pet was going to be her final moments, Aideen entered the room and put the bill on the table that our dog is going to have her final moments on and instructed us fix it up before we leave. The coldness and lack of compassion was astonishing, a moment that that should’ve been remembered with love and immense sorrow is now clouded in anger and hurt, I wouldn’t dream of bringing anymore dogs to S&F while Aideen is the receptionist. I emailed the practice manager and got reply saying how these situations were difficult and that they’d review the process. .

Positive experience: I am deeply disappointed with the reception service I received at smith and foley. My interaction with the Aideen was particularly upsetting—she was unhelpful, dismissive, and displayed a complete lack of empathy for my situation. Instead of providing support, her attitude made me feel judged and like a bad pet owner, which was both unwarranted and extremely disheartening during an already stressful time. As a pet owner, I trust veterinary clinics to not only care for my pet but also treat me with respect and understanding. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling let down and humiliated. I hope the clinic addresses this issue directly and ensures their front desk staff show the kindness and professionalism expected in such a caring profession.

Fantastic experience: One lady in particular at the Navan branch took our fur baby in at 8.30pm tonight on her own time. I was so stressed i didnt even think to get her name but she had short hair and glasses Marie or Mary . We are so so greatful to her. She was unbelievably sweet with our pet and with us considering the time . She even kept the clinic open for us to wait inside for our taxi . We even tried to give her extra money for the appointment for her time and she refused , this woman is on the fast track to heaven .We will only ever use this vets going forward.

Fantastic experience: Recently joined this surgery, as our original vet retired unfortunately & we couldn’t get the same service from another recommended veterinary. So absolutely we took the risk & delighted we joined this team. The Staff from reception, to the nurses & vets. Particularly Sinéad & Shaunna have been a pleasure to deal with. They Listen to concerns, feedback & give a comprehensive review & treatment if required. Also very calm & reassuring & interested in our dog & his needs. Thank you

And his beautiful young cat needed a surgery, I spoke with Sinead one of the staff and she was brilliant and very helpful, all the staff were warm and friendly and really made me feel reassured my dads cat was in good hands … my dads , cat is doing great thanks to great vets and staff nurses at Navan practice, who do an amazing job for animals , I would definitely recommend this practice in Navan, also very fair with pricing… which again considering the professional care of your animals you get the best peace of mind. Fantastic experience: After trying different vets over the last couple of years we came to Smith and Foley. From the very first phone call we knew we were in good hands. The girls on the reception we so friendly and so accommodating. The 2 vets we felt with were so good with both our dogs and really could see how good they were when looking after them. Finally a great and comfortable place for Louis and Sox to go. Thank you all so much

Fantastic experience: For those going through the final moments with a pet, this one's for you. Today I had to bring my girl to the vet for the last time. She had passed away by herself, with family around her. I rang Smith and Foley to let them know what had happened, and they were extraordinary sympathetic and professional about the whole situation. They walked me though what to do, what the process is and what the cost was, all done over the phone. We brought her into a lovely family room, where we could take our time and say goodbye to her. They gave us the best options for the best price I could find in navan, and made sure that we were okay. I have gone to them in the past and from the get go I can tell you that they are the most caring veterinary clinic I have come across in my 16 years with my girl. They truly have been kind to us and I couldn't recommend them enough. They've helped us say goodbye in the easiest way possible. For that, I thank them immensely.

Negative experience: Avoid this place. Had an emergency with my dog on a bank holiday, called their emergency number. I got a call back and explained the situation, my dog was having an emergency and the vet's we normally use appeared to not know what was going on and crucially they did no scans as they don't have any equipment, as they are rural. I suspected something more serious going on than what the other vet's GUESS was, the vet from Smith & Foley then had the shamelessness to say 'your vet has a duty of care to your dog', in other words, it's his problem not mine. Where was your duty of care? Or your basic sense of morality? I don't have one single vet assigned for life! I wanted to avail of a better vets, but the vet didn't want his day off disturbed that was clear. Funny thing is someone highly recommended this place to me so i tried them. Shocking service, how is someone supposed to become a customer without coming in when you turn them away? My dog passed away that day, i had to travel to Summerhill in a rush, they did the scans and found what was wrong. Something your place could have done quicker, and therefore with less suffering for our dog. This was Patrick's day this occured. For the vet who spoke to me, shame on you.

Fantastic experience: My dog got hit by a car, fortunately only very minor injuries, but I rang the vet to get the dog a thorough examination. Even though it was a Saturday afternoon they were able to provide a consultation immediately. Complete and in depth examination executed within 40 minutes of contact. Great but not cheap.

Fantastic experience: I brought my kitten in for her vaccinations today. The receptionists were lovely and really showed an interest in my kitten. The vet was very kind, explained everything and made me and my kitten feel at ease

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this vet practice. Both the vets and vet nurses here go above and beyond. Everyone is so friendly, and they take the time to explain things to help you get a better understanding of the problem. Although it wasn't a good outcome for my poor chickie Cassidy, I'm confident that they did their best for her. Have been with this practice for years with cats and dogs (and now hens), and the standard of care (for both human and animal!) is always fantastic.

Vet Grainne is an exceptional professional, and is helping me with my dogs illness every step of the way and really doing the very best. All staff make sure Ive all her meds up to date between visits, takes the thinking out of it for me. Great support.
