Rockhall Vets

Negative experience: Not a good veterinary clinic for my pet day to day. Always prescribing something and making a massive deal out of very small things that have been easily resolved since moving vets. Eg. My dog had inflamed ears that they prescribed a daily anti allergenic. New vets simply prescribed a spray for 1 week and it cleared. Also Rockhall vets took my dog in, sedated and gave two stitches for a tiny cut, recommended to then glue skin when stitches re opened, costing over 500 euro. New vets simply recommended time for wound to heal. Was with Rockhall vets for four years and the amount of times they had my dog in and out for appointments. Rockhall vets were nice people but constantly reacting and prescribing. This is my first dog so a lot of the time I needed to hear everything was fine.

Fantastic experience: Took my little foster in for a blood test and they were so good with her. She's a nervous dog but got on really well thanks to the lovely staff.

Fantastic experience: Couldn’t recommend Rockhall Vets enough! We had a sudden emergency with our 5month old Cavapoo late in the evening which led u to having to contact Rockhall vet clinic as our own vets were closed. The secretary was super lovely and friendly and knew all her stuff, she got us a slot really quickly within 45mins!! We got admitted almost straight away upon arrival. The staff were all so professional , and knowledgeable, we were informed about what was happening to our puppy, and they told us all possible causes, covered all possible treatments that may be needed answer all my questions and worries. In the end we were advised that the best thing would be that our pup should be hospitalised overnight for further investigation and treatment as they weren’t sure what was the cause of his symptoms at during the initial investigation. The late shift staff were in contact with me all the time, even late at night to inform me how he was doing and what he has been given, which test have already been done and what’s coming next which really helped put mind at ease :). Luckily we only had to keep him there for one night as he started doing better and was ready to be taken home the next morning. I was so glad that I brought him to Rockhall. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I really felt like everything i was saying was taken in and he was really cared for during his time there. In the even of emergency I couldn’t have asked for anything more !

Fantastic experience: Fantastic Veterinary Clinic. Reception is polite, helpful and compassionate and all vets and nurses we've dealt with have always been friendly, caring and fair. Never had an issue with them and so comforting to know they're there 24/7.

Fantastic experience: I am a forced refugee from Ukraine, and recently I had to say goodbye to my old dog. The staff were incredibly kind, professional, and understanding, making this very hard moment as gentle and peaceful as possible. They even gave me his paw print to keep with me, which has supported me through these last few days. I am very grateful for their compassion and care.

Negative experience: I don't recommend this clinic. They charged us 100 euro for a 5 min consultation and a anti vomiting shot. Blood tests are 180 Euro and one day of hospitalisation is 90. It is more expensive than going as a human in a hospital.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed with Rock Hall Emergency Vet. My dog urgently needed pain relief medication, and I had full medical records from our regular vet. Despite this, they refused to help simply because my dog was not already registered as their client.I expected an EMERGENCY vet to actually deal with EMERGENCIES , especially in situations when my own vet was closed ( Saturday afternoon) Even when I provided the name of my regular vet, whom they could have contacted to confirm all details, they still refused to issue pain medication that my dog was already using‍♀️For me this makes it clear: they do not prioritize the wellbeing of the animal, only their own bureaucracy and profit. This was a deeply frustrating and upsetting experience, and I cannot recommend their services.

Negative experience: Do not bring your pets here ! Staff are so rude, they advised us to put our dog to sleep because if she didn’t have surgery within 48 hours she would die ! She is still with us and is on the mend, all they care about is money !!

Fantastic experience: Great service

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough great things about this vet. Aoife is incredible with our 2 cats and when one of them passed away suddenly, we went into the city centre branch to arrange cremation but Aoife rang the next day to check in on us which we really appreciated as we were heartbroken after months of treating his heart murmur to keep him comfortable. Cremation process was simple and Rockos ashes were provided in a beautiful wooden box with his name engraved on a plate and they did ink prints of his paws and also his nose which we didn't expect but we will cherish it forever.

Negative experience: Not good...

Negative experience: went in for consultation for two cats, they were weighed in a small cage, teeth checked, and heart listened to. The small cage really stressed them out and when it came to vacinations they were really stressed. I have never had issues with either of my cats at a vet but here both of them felt very uncomfortable. Neither got a vaccination as they were too aggresive, honestly they were just scared and didnt understand why they needed to be enclosed or held down. I ended up havign to pay 95 euros and neither of them have been vacced. So I will have to go to a different vet now to get that sorted. really sad about the experience as my cata have never had a bad time at vets in the past, and I now worry they will be afraid the next time. The money is insane that I had to pay for a 15 min consultation with two cats. I could have weighted them at home, and checked their theeth at home. So in the end I ended up paying 95 for the vet listening to both their hearts. Nothing else. I wish I could say bringing in a complaint would be a good idea, but putting a cat in such a small cage to them way them in the waiting room where dogs are is just bad practice. I SHOULD HAVE READ ALL THE REVIEWS!! seems form the reviews that they may eb okey for dogs but for cats this place is mot suited. Since then went to Treaty Veterinarian at Thomond Gate. And they have been amazing!!

Fantastic experience: Great veterinary staff, all vets brilliant. Girls on reception are amazing

Negative experience: I went with our puppy in the evening around 10pm, he was vomiting and had blood in his poop. The vet asked for 140€ just for the simple fact that the puppy's temperature was measured, he was weighed and his heartbeat was counted. Out of desperation I accepted, I just wanted our little puppy to feel better. In the end I paid 185€ just to monitor his vital functions, for two injections (which did not help him, on the contrary they only worsened his condition) and for a medicine. I went the next day around 6pm to explain to the vet that the puppy's condition was not improving at all and a lady told me to come back at 9pm, when the night shift starts, to pay 140€ again for a consultation. We were lucky that our puppy could hold out until morning and we took him to another vet who not only checked his vitals, but also did blood tests and x-rays. I don't want to imagine what would have happened if our puppy hadn't held out until morning to be taken to another vet. This vet clinic is only interested in money and doesn't care at all about the well-being of the animals. I understand that at night the prices are higher than usual, but asking €185 for a consultation and two injections that didn't even help the puppy's condition seems like a joke to me. At another vet for €230 they also did blood tests and x-rays. In the end, the puppy just needed antibiotic treatment!! Worst experience, I don't recommend it!!

Fantastic experience: Our beautiful 15 year old dog Pudsey passed away last night after getting hit by a car. As we live in the country there are no vets open 24/7, we rang this vet clinic and they couldn’t have been more helpful! We made it in to the clinic and Pudsey was immediately taken into the room to be looked after. As she was in a lot of pain and discomfort we were given two different options, but due to her age our best plan was to put her to sleep The vets couldn’t have been more helpful with the whole process and explained in detailed what would happen next and let us pick out our own memory box. Although it wasn’t the outcome we expected, we are grateful for the fast acting vet that was on duty!

Negative experience: Good vets but very expensive

Negative experience: I had an appointment for my cat , I know it’s been my fault because I’m working night shifts and I haven’t been able to wake for 12 o’clock apoitment but I rescheduled late in the evening , I’ve been late 10 min because my cat was hiding under the coach and very hard to get it out but even like that the doctor was very upset about this and I apologize but no reason to cut my cat’s nails until was bleeding… what I was supposed to do and say? I’m coming to a specialist because I trust but now I don’t anymore . I don’t know if he’s happy about he’s job , but if is not , don’t show that to people .

Positive experience: Fantastic vet very friendly

Negative experience: Ended up in this clinic yesterday evening for an emergency, with an old cat in critical condition. As we were half an hour away, we got a phone call from the clinic telling us that everything is prepared and ready for him when we get there. Once we arrived we had to wait for the vet in the consultation room with nothing prepared for us. The vet told us she was new and she didn’t know what could be wrong with him. When we had a question she didn’t even know what or how to answer it. We had this cat for 15 years and he was part of our family. When it came to saving him money didn’t matter. She left him lying on the table to get the estimate and was gone for a long time even though we had already said we don’t care how much it will be if there’s any chance to save him to please do so. She took him to give him pain medication when she returned she she didn’t even give him any. She didn’t know what she was doing. She kept moving him from room to room which was causing him pain cause he kept crying she didn’t know where to leave him. She left us multiple times for us to make a decision but in the meantime she was going to see other clients - which probably wasn’t her fault I’m assuming the clinic was short staffed. But it made the experience so much harder and so much more difficult. He was left suffering for an additional 15/20 minutes when there wasn’t need to be. Each time she left she said she will be back in a few minutes but we had to go looking for her every time. This clinic should have more experienced staff in the evenings as our experience was shocking. Not only was she not able to get paw prints and tried multiple times and then even went to get a jar of ink which was so disturbing for us to be watching his lifeless body. She didn’t even remove the bandages and needles from his arms. We had to do it when we came home. Once removed, there were 2 bandages on both arms and so bloody cause she couldn’t get it the first time. After he was euthanised and covered in a blanket she wanted their blanket back at first but ended us letting us keep it. Would not recommend this clinic. The lady in reception was lovely but the vet was inexperienced. Feels like all they care about is money and that’s their only primarily concern. Update response to your comment below- quite clearly the endeavour to do better didn’t help much as there are still people experiencing this awful trauma judging by the reviews

Negative experience: Warning to any pet lovers out there do not bring you’re fur babies here as all they care about is money we brought our beautiful Yorkie here on the 05/10/2024 at 9.30pm as she was very unwell she had diabetis. We were met with a a very unfriendly assistance with no bedside manner we were left waiting in a very small room with our baby in pain when we finally got seen to they knew our doggie should ideally of been put to sleep but thought it best to keep her alive, they gave me a quote of €565.00 we accepted and told them go ahead with treatment. The bill kept going up in price till it was now at €1,600 they would not give us back our dog after paying them €700 as we said we would pay the rest in the week my husband told citizens advice and they said we were to fight for our dog back and pay no more as we were being ripped off our poor baby got sick next day after being brought home so we had to have her put to sleep on the 11/10/2024. We are broken hearted she has been a part of our family for 14 wonderful years we lost 3 days of her life with us because of thes horrid robbing people at Rockhall vets on Henry street limerick so please don’t let these criminals destroy another family like ours they need to be shut down with immediate effect, I know my poor baby is gone now and suffered needlessly it was all about money so I hope this saves anyone else’s pets and their family’s from having to experience the trauma we had to . Negative experience: Stay away if you value your dogs life. Done nothing for me only checked his blood and told me go to my own vet when they open and that my dog will be ok.Dog died!!! Update on their comment underneath I emailed them with my name twice they never came back to me just shows they only talk rubbish to look good on the reviews!!!! Telling you if you love your dog go elsewhere

Negative experience: Really disappointed with this clinic, my understanding is it's an emergency vets? I had an emergency with my dog who was in labour there was 3 hours after the 1st puppy been born I could see she was having difficulty having the second I rang this clinic to take my dog down to help save her and her puppies but they refused because they wanted a referral from my vet in kerry which was closed on a Saturday and had no way to contact them!! I was completely at a loss that is like going to A&E and been refused treatment unless they have a gp referral!! Luckily I found a fantastic emergency vet in abbeyfeal who told me bring my dog straight down to him and he saved her and her 7 little puppies with a c section!

Fantastic experience: From day 1 nearly a year ago from the first panicked call to the first meeting I have never witnessed such kindness from a vetinary service and iv never looked back (except for my fur baby since putting me true the ringer of stress and worry and on a first name basis now with nearly all the staff) so August 2023 a late nightcall skip the small details my fur baby had pyrometra(puss build up as never been neutered or in pup) I came out in tears watching my baby walking away with the vet nurse fur the first time ever at 11 years they never minded me every nearly half hour ringing just to easemy mind until I managed to get her back in my arms safely and I seen first hand the amazing work and kindness they had.... fast forward to january when we had 3 lumps removed (1 been nipple cancer but luckily was all removed) again so scared of losing her but nothing to worry about as they reasured me on every time I rang them. A month later a broken nail needed to be removed then another lump which while under sedation they found another tiny one and removed also... the love, compassion and care they all have is so comforting and the kindness they show is unforgettable and I'll never go to anyone but them my baby is healthy now after receiving all clear on bloods after a test 6 months ago showed her liver enzymes were high and was put on supplements 3 months later tests showed they came down and as a trial for 3 months took her off the supplements and got more bloods done 2 weeks ago to find out she's clear was all down to her needing dental work rockhall Henry street are amazing even more so when my father's dog became ill i sent him straight to them sadly he crossed the rainbow bridge but we no he was in the right hands who done as much as they could for him and he was fighting down to his last breath while they fought to save him also. Massive thanks to Luke, Laura, naomi, Amanda, chris, Maria and I'm sorry for any more iv missed from all the consults check ups etc The surgeons down to saving my baby especially luke who has had his hands on my coco too many times The nurses for taking the best care of her The receptionists for always been so nice on the phone so.understanding and comforting and helpful especially Amanda The nighttime staff chris mainly I remember. Hopefully I don't have to see ye again for anything other than updated vaccinations please god Thank ye again

Fantastic experience: I have never left a review before, but in this case I felt like I had to, from the first phone call I made late at night to the immediate appointment I got first thing the next morning, and for my hamster which I had thought would be difficult to find care for. The compassion and care they showed for my hamster and for myself as I was so upset, I will never forget. And also the price for the emergency appointment and treatment was so reasonable. Thanks to all the staff involved.

Negative experience: I don't normally leave bad reviews but I feel completely justified in this one. Firstly the vetinary office is in great condition, modern looking etc. I was grateful to get an appointment for our cat on a Sunday with the majority of local vets being closed and it being an emergency. However, looking back I was sorry that I just didn't phone the emergency vet that was on call for our regular vets. I was quoted €700-€600 for their services. I ended paying a consultation fee of €100 to include one pain relief injection (not a anti inflamority medicine) I asked about antibiotics, which I understand could not be prescribed without testing which would have been an additional €90, I asked about anti inflammatory medication for at home and wasn't given this either. I had to make the decision to wait and take my cat into our regular vets early this morning. Needless to say the price difference is considerably substantial - over €500 in the difference to be exact!! I feel they are completely taking advantage of people in emergency situations, weekend consultation rates are always going to be higher however, I had to wait overnight for services that were a normal price with my regular vets. So if they are not your regular vet, I would recommend you contact the emergency vet that is on call for your local one.

Fantastic experience: I will never forget the kindness shown to our baby Aldo, 17.5 yr old "puppy" . He wasnt their dog but our vet was closed so they gave us an appointment. Last Oct, (Im still crying daily) Aldo suffered a stroke. We took him to Henry St. The vet gave us plenty of time before and after with him. She cried with us. Showed so much empathy. My daughter held him in her arms when the vet put him to sleep. She gave us time to choose the box fpr his ashes. Jewellery with his ashes inside etc. She was so kind. No rush whatsoever. We received a beautiful card two days later saying "sorry for your loss". Amazing care, respect and kindness. Thank you so much. We willl not forget. Nora Gallagher.

Negative experience: These people should have some more empathy for pets owners as well when they are giving worse news about somebody's pet. Very bad experience.

Negative experience: My mother rang this morning and asked for them to see my yorkshire terrior and told them she is very sick and is throwing up black. We were told they weren’t going to see her as she isn’t their customer. We spoke to other vets that are open and they told us she would’ve need an x ray and that she needs to go somewhere with one. We called back this vets and We explained how she needs an x ray and no other vet with an x ray is open today. We were told the same thing that they will not see her. I think this is disgraceful as my dog could die without care. We received no sympathy on the phone or offered any alternative options until they can see her. I’m am disgusted with this.

Fantastic experience: Lovely people and very good with my cat.

Negative experience: Place looks nicer since John retired, but the prices have doubled. This used to be a high quality, no-frills and affordable veterinary clinic. Now it's just another sleek city vet. In addition to paying over 90 euros for a consultation- (everything used was itemised on top of the 50 euro basic rate)I was charged 12.50 for a nastic plastic cone that actually presses on the wound. So we paid 106 to treat a little wound, which in hindsight would have just healed itself. Please don't insult my intelligence with a response about inflation- this is not Argentina.

Fantastic experience: A lovely place. They saved us when we were let down and treated poorly by the first cattery we booked with on the day we were going on holiday. The staff are lovely and friendly. They took out two cats on the day. We just had to bring their beds and food. They play with the cats during the day in a play area so they're not cooked up in cages which is great. When we picked them up they were well rested and healthy. The girl even let out kitten keep two toy balls she loved playy with. The price was very reasonable too for a week. Would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Very happy with my visit. I called at half 3 wondering what they could do for my parakeet who was plucked raw by another parakeet. The girl was lovely and gave me an appointment for half 4. I wasn't judged for not keeping him under closer supervision when I introduced him to another cage. He was seen right away and I left with syringes of antibiotics and painkillers. I even got something for parasites I can give to my other birds. It wasn't very expensive. Feeling much better now all my birds' needs were looked after easily.

Negative experience: Not recommend! It was at the clinic for the second time, it was horrible. I dropped my cat there a two months ago to do scan and they kept my cat there without eating the whole day and they didn’t contact me to collect the cat at all. Today I had to go there because my cat had a surgery and I noticed something that I would like to check in her suture. I just got there and the manager Monica started shouting with me if I had appointment and I was trying to explain why I was there, she just stopped giving out because I had to make myself loud as well. It is so frustrating because my animal is part of my family!

Negative experience: Went to Henry St with my dog because that's where i always went when John owed it. Never again the vet a young girl just had a very quick look at he's bottom and said oh ya an abses, never examined him or checked he's temp, a quick jab and antibiotics to take home, €125 bill and its only when I checked my email to see the invoice i realised the consultation fee was €70 absolutely robbing, my sister goes to a vet in dooradoyle for €40 a friend uses treaty vet for €45, it's shocking the difference in price, I will never attend again and i will hi light the price difference to friend's and on social media

Fantastic experience: Staff are lovely helpful, very good value for price would highly recommend definitely best vet in Limerick. What they done for my dog was at very reasonable price. Heard of vet ls doing a lot less and charging a lot more. I had issue with the Receptionist where she wanted another consultation fee when all we wanted was to swap the meds for liquid meds as my dog had jaw injury and wasn’t eating or taking the meds. However they rang me back to sort out the misunderstanding even tho it was a little too late but at least they tried to make things right. So they do care about their customer's. I must also give credit to the receptionist that was working the night 8th of June was amazing and very helpful.

Fantastic experience: Very good, my dog has been such a curious rare case, in and out of 3 vets for over a month, rock hall basically was her life line, they were very kind and generous towards Aria, they would call me, during the night and day with updates regarding her and process. Negative experience: Not recommended There’s one vet who is always in a rush, Not kind with my pet… and always when I need to go there she is the person who will see my pet… every time I went there she never knows what my pet has… she doesn’t even check on the way it has to be checked… and she is a bit rude. Unfortunately I don’t know her name, but I decided not going anymore to this vet. And also everytime I go it’s a different price for appointment and always increasing the price.

Fantastic experience: My dog had eaten an Easter egg, a horrible mistake to leave it somewhere within her reach. The vet saw me within the hour, did not shame me at all for making such a silly mistake. Nothing but kindness and professionalism here
