Rockhall Vets, Monaleen

Fantastic experience: Great vet clinic. The staff are always so friendly, and my cat is always very well looked after during her visits. She recently had a surgical procedure, and Vet Aoife was incredibly kind and caring towards her, as always. I definitely have peace of mind knowing my cat is in such good hands.

Negative experience: Oh boy where to start! I have always had pets so I have been to lots of vets but I have never had the misfortune to experience anything like this. I brought my dog for his booster vaccination and to check his leg, bit of cramp. The vet(Ciara) didn't impress from the off, I even had to ask her name, zero introduction. She had no interest in my pet. First I was quizzed so she could decide which type of vaccination to give him, intrusive at best, I was never asked such questions before, ever. Then began what I can only describe as a fiercely aggressive, relentless sales pitch! All to do with teeth cleaning, now there is nothing wrong with his teeth, they are cleaned regularly and he is only 2 years old. In between she did examine his legs but kept 'selling' the procedure. I had to interrupt to ask um is his leg ok(the actual relevant point of the visit!). She said they recommended blood tests as well with the dental procedure, to decide what anesthetic to give him. I said you just said yourself he is perfectly healthy. He is 2 years old! Why would I put him through this! It was very forceful and I felt pressured by her. She then said oh let me print you a price list and left the room only to return with a price list and proceed to take me through that, emphasising that the very expensive blood tests were 'recommended' I can easily imagine more vulnerable customers being railroaded into procedures their pets do not need and being pressurised into agreeing, how awful! Words actually fail me, she told me to go home and think about it and how she gets her own dog done regularly blah blah. Honestly it went on and on, I felt trapped and cornered in that tiny room, being spoken at and I did not feel heard. I told her I felt she was being a bit pushy, that this would make me not come back there, made no difference whatsoever, she continued on trying to sell me this procedure with her very next line being will I make an appointment for you, we have a slot tomorrow!!! Honestly. I couldn't believe my own ears. Also had multiple tries to sell me flea/worm treatments and to have me set up reminders from them for those...Long story short, I eventually got back out to reception to be met with another vet(Aoife), equally bad who the whole time I was trying to pay took calls and had a lengthy chat with a customer delivering a poo sample...never made eye contact with me or spoke to me directly once, so bad, so unprofessional, shocking actually. She proceeded to tell me the amount(more expensive than most) but not minus the 20 eur I had to pay to be able to make the appointment in the first place. When I pointed this out there was no apology just 'oh yeah'. Very bad! Then the receptionist handed me a sheet of paper, saying Ciara printed this out for you...asked what it was and she said oh fees for dental...I replied oh don't worry, I had that foisted on me already! Unbelievable! When I looked at this 'estimation' it listed my dog as a cocker spaniel, indeed during the appointment Ciara even said oh he has a cavalier face, I'm surprised since he's a cocker spaniel. I said actually he's a Cavapoo! Go figure that...it is hard to believe these people are vets, they have absolutely no ethics, no moral compass whatsoever, just appalling. No interest in my dog, only in the contents of his Mama's wallet! Ciara did try to win him over by giving him a treat after his booster(it hurt him, says it all) but he wouldn't take it, clever boy!! Avoid, avoid. AVOID!!!

Fantastic experience: Such a fab range of vet clinics. I rang the Clare Street clinic yesterday looking for advice on my cat, and when they didn't have any appointments, they booked me in for an appointment the following day in the Monaleen clinic with Aoife, which suited us much better. Aoife was so gentle with my cat and gave me some great advice. I also bought a collar for my cat while there which was recommended, and so far it's the only collar that hasn't irritated my cat, and has actually stayed on! Can't recommend these guys enough.

Fantastic experience: We are presently dealing with Aoife. She is the most beautiful and kind hearted person, even in delivering news that she knew would be difficult for us. She took extra time off the clock to ensure we were well informed and comfortable with decisions. We owe her everything for keeping our little dog safe.

Fantastic experience: We have two anxious (this pup can be a little reactive) Belgian Malis who we only bring to this particular Rockhall Vets because they are just so good with anxious dogs. They take extra care and have so much patience for puppies who can be a little nervous without judging them. We absolutely love Aoife, the vet who always checks them, she’s a dog whisperer!! Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: Rockhall Vets in Monaleen, especially Aoife and team, are exceptional! We have two Belgian Malinois and they are both very anxious around new people. Finn especially can be reactive so we have tried multiple vets. Aoife has been a game changer. She understands dog body language, appreciates Finn and Fae’s space and most importantly, she respects them. We know they are in safe hands and it is a stress free environment. Thanks all at Rockhall Monaleen!

Fantastic experience: Great, caring and very professional staff. Ample parking. Very accessible. I highly recommend Rockhall vets, I have been thier customer for 6 or so years or maybe more. There is also an animal groomer on the grounds here, however, I dont know their name or if you need to be booked in, in advance. They also are not affiliated with Rochhall vets.

Nothing was too much trouble, clearly has a wonderful way with animals and talked us through everything so clearly. Fionn absolutely loved her- a wonderful accommodating Vet practice.

They carried out the surgery and could not have been more helpful throughout her recovery. She is now back to herself and it’s all thanks to these guys and the great work that they do!
